Be One of Us

Western Romania is a multicultural region where the traditions and customs of local communities are kept alive by its residents—Romanians, Hungarians, Serbs, Swabians, and Bulgarians. “Be One of Us” is a comprehensive program through which the company takes responsible action to support, in the long term, the traditions and rich local culture of the Banat region, where multiculturalism and harmonious living—regardless of ethnicity—are valued as shared principles.

Over time, the “Be One of Us” program has become an active part of the local communities in which it operates, supporting local initiatives whenever the opportunity arises by helping preserve a wide range of local customs and unique festivals tied to the traditional rural calendar. No matter the season, we support cultural events taking place in villages and towns across the region.

For over 15 years, investing in education has been one of Comtim Romania’s priorities in supporting the development of the communities we are part of.

The “Adopt a School” program was launched at the initiative of Comtim Romania and aims to improve the educational process and study conditions in schools across Timiș and Arad Counties. Eligible projects have included school infrastructure rehabilitation and renovation activities, the acquisition and provision of new IT&C teaching equipment, as well as the development of playgrounds and sports areas within the schools selected for the program.

Green Campaign

The Green Campaign aims to raise awareness among employees about the importance of using water and electricity responsibly and collecting plastic and paper waste selectively.

Since 2010, all Comtim Romania employees have actively participated in the social responsibility program “Green Campaign” through the efficient management, collection, and selective recycling of plastic and paper waste.

In 2016, we implemented an extension of the program called “Green Office” to bring a fresh approach to the initiative and expand it by including new components. Green Day

“ECO DAY” / “Green Day” is an annual event organized as a volunteer initiative aimed at promoting ecological awareness among Comtim Romania employees.
Comtim Romania's initiative is a sign of solidarity with the European environmental protection movement, the “European Clean-Up Day” / “Let’s Clean Europe”, http://www.letscleanupeurope.eu, through which, every year on May 10th, citizens and institutions organize public actions to raise awareness about the importance of maintaining a clean environment.

Starting in April 2011, Comtim Romania employees enthusiastically embraced the idea of beginning each spring with the “Eco Day” / “Green Day” program, an internal initiative focused on one of our team’s core responsibilities – caring for the environment in which we operate.

Through this program, employees from all Comtim Romania sites participate in cleaning, reorganizing, and revitalizing the green spaces around our facilities, supporting environmental awareness and contributing to a cleaner surrounding environment.

The event provides the perfect setting for spending a pleasant day outdoors, alongside colleagues and family, young and old alike.
It also offers the chance to meet the production teams from the hosting sites. The day features interactive games, drawing contests for employees’ children, various team competitions, and the much-anticipated highlight: the tasting of Comtim products – delicious and flavorful!

Special Projects

Preserving the Unique Gastronomic Heritage of Banat

Comtim Romania supports the project “At table in Banat", initiated by "At Home in Banat" Association for the preservation of a unique gastronomic heritage: the Banat cuisine.

The uniqueness of Banat's gastronomy stems from the diversity of tastes and recipes specific to the various cultures that have created the history of these places (Slovaks, Germans, Hungarians, and Serbs), where honestly raised pork holds a special place.

In 2021, Comtim Romania also got involved in projects to preserve the special gastronomic heritage of this area. The company has launched an internal information campaign involving its employees as true ambassadors of this project. Employees and their families contributed to the project by photo-video documenting the recipes that are still prepared in the households of Banat locals and which are based on tasty and nutritious Comtim pork.

From a nutritionist's perspective

The pork promotion project, supported by Dr. Mihaela Bilic, a nutritionist, provides essential information about the benefits of this food, debunking the myths surrounding it. It highlights the cultural role of this animal in human nutrition, emphasizing its tradition and importance in Romanian gastronomy. Through a series of videos, Dr. Bilic demystifies common misconceptions about pork, showing that when consumed in moderation and prepared correctly, it can be part of a healthy diet.

She also offers practical advice on how to choose, cook, and serve pork to preserve its nutritional value and explains the difference between healthy and unhealthy fats. Finally, she emphasizes the role of pork proteins in maintaining muscle mass, energy, and overall health.

This educational project combines nutritional science with tradition, offering the public a balanced perspective on pork.
